Online telecom comparison shopping site TeleBright.com of Rockville has introduced a free digital subscriber line (DSL) search that allows business and residential customers to compare 120 plans offered by 35 providers. The service allows customers to make a side-by-side comparison of plans through a search engine, focusing on features such as upload and download speed, monthly fee, and costs for installation and equipment.
After making a selection, customers can select a plan on the TeleBright site.
While the list isn't all-inclusive, among the providers making information on their plans available on the site are AT&T, Broadwing Communications, eSpire, PSINet, RCN, Savvis, Teligent and UUNet.
TeleBright says it is impartial and makes money through commissions from the service providers for each sale.
A search for DSL providers in rural Montgomery County and McLean yielded the same number of plans and companies: 42 DSL plans from five companies for residential customers and 72 plans from eight companies for business customers.
The site also offers comparison of other telecom plans: long distance, local, wireless, Internet access, web hosting and bundles.
